Mid Sussex District Council

Mid Sussex District Council is a dynamic, forward thinking local authority in the heart of southern England. We have clear priorities, and are proud that our service provision is consistently rated highly by the local community. We are based in easily accessible Haywards Heath at the centre of the largest opportunity for development identified in the Coast 2 Capital Strategic Economic Plan and the Greater Brighton City Deal.

As well as a number of attractive rural areas Burgess Hill and East Grinstead are two of the region’s major conurbations. Current projects include major town centre revitalisation work in these areas.

We are a great employer to work for, situated in a glorious part of the country with great staff benefits to offer, including generous holiday, pension and free car parking. We are currently seeking two individuals to fill the following posts:-

Civil Enforcement Officers x 3 (COTD007, COTD052 & COTD058)
£19,430 pa - £21,268 pa
Permanent - 37 hours per week shift work including Saturdays

Join our team of Civil Enforcement Officers, carrying out firm but fair day to day enforcement of parking legislation in off street car parks and on the streets of Mid Sussex. The Parking team plays an important role in engaging with the public and reducing traffic congestion within the District.

This is a physically demanding role with lots of time spent walking outdoors in all weathers and issuing penalty charge notices to motorists parked in contravention of parking regulations. You’ll need excellent customer service skills and have a polite, tactful, diplomatic and confident manner. Being able to communicate calmly and clearly under pressure is a must and you should be observant and accurate in recording information. You should be comfortable working alone and as part of a team and be able to use your initiative. You need to be literate, numerate and have some computer skills and you must have a full, clean UK driving licence.

The hours of work will be an average 37-hour week, including early morning, evenings and Saturdays on a rota basis. You will be provided with a uniform and full training.
