TRAINEE PLANNING OFFICER (EDEV051)
Salary £17,419 to £21,268 per annum Plus car allowance of up to £1,239 per annum
This is a rare and fantastic opportunity to develop a career in town and country planning. We are looking to appoint to this post in our Planning Service, which includes funding for the part time (day release) post graduate MSc degree in Town Planning at Brighton University.
Mid Sussex is a forward thinking Authority having won a national award for its staff development work. The post holder will provide technical support to planning officers in the consideration of planning applications and appeals. In addition there will be the potential to process householder planning applications and provide advice to our customers. The opportunity to work in our Planning Policy team on Development Plan documents will also be provided. The post holder will be encouraged and supported to obtain membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute and chartered town planner status.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate enthusiasm, a customer focus and commitment to the pursuit of a career in Town and Country Planning. Applicants should be educated to degree standard in planning or a related subject.
Experience in Local Authority Planning is desirable but not essential. You must hold a full current driving licence and you are required to provide a car for use on Council business for which an appropriate car allowance and mileage will be paid.
